WHO ARE WE?

Center for Infrastructure and Built Environment (CIBE) is located at a new facility within the strategic ITB Ganesha Campus. The center is an integral part of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FCEE). As with FCEE, CIBE provides research and education expertise in the areas of civil engineering, environmental engineering, and ocean engineering. Furthermore, CIBE will focus on the interdisciplinary activities among these three main expertise of FCEE.

VISION

Smart infrastructure and sustainable built environment based on the advancement of engineering and technology, for the betterment of mankind

HOW DO WE DELIVER OUR VISION?

The mission of CIBE is to execute leadership in research and education for solving national problems affecting the demand for infrastructure as the backbone of economic development
CIBE seeks to be an interdisciplinary research and education platform in promoting advance engineering and technology for smart infrastructure and built environment through the following mechanisms:
•  Foster interdisciplinary R&D activities in promoting sustainable infrastructure technology with well-focused tailored project collaborations to address the needs of local (municipal and provincial) and central/national agencies, and the private sector.
•  Provide opportunity for academic researches and graduate students in developing applicable collaborative industry-academic research projects.
•  Promote technology transfer to the engineering community and industry.
•  Collaborate with center affiliated members/networks in preparing and executing major infrastructure proposals/projects.
•  Build direct linkages with industry to introduce optimum solutions related to built environment issues.
•  Provide continuing education programs for professionals in various fields of sustainable built environment.

RESEARCH AREAS

Infrastructure development plays a key role in national development strategy, which will both impact on the liveability and sustainability of cities and regions in Indonesia and raise the sustainable growth rate.
The government’s emphasis on infrastructure investment and the targets set out in the National Medium Term Development Plan (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah or RPJM) for 2015 to 2019.
CIBE research areas have been defined based on ITB’s strategic agenda, and also in line with national infrastructure goals.

RESEARCH THEMES

While the focus is dynamic, considering the strengths of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the themes include the following:
•  Advanced design methods to resist earthquakes in highrise buildings, long-span bridges, and other complex and large structures
•  Resilient and sustainable systems for flood control.
•  Development of innovative sustainable environmental infrastructure for overcoming environmental degradation
•  Sustainable maritime infrastructures
•  Advanced, sustainable materials for infrastructure construction and rehabilitation.
•  Innovative schemes for promoting Sustainable Construction policy, programs, tools and technology for the national construction industry
•  Innovative schemes in infrastructure partnerships and financing
